In Remembrance of Tanner Brandon Moore
2005 - 2024Tanner took his life at the young age of 18. Our lives will never be the same without him. We feel the deep ache of his absence and his passing, and we will miss him every single day. May he be at peace and free, as the weight he was carrying is no longer pressing down on him. May we find healing, however long it takes, and try to be compassionate with ourselves as we grieve. May we love and communicate with those human beings around us and do our best to prevent any more deaths by suicide, as even one is one too many. May we carry on Tanner's legacy of spontaneity, bravery, determination, humor, friendship, and a dash of recklessness.
As Tanner's sister, I miss the tattoo updates, silly inappropriate jokes, and occasional reluctant brother side hug. I miss seeing him in passing in our family home. I miss letting him drive my car and being slightly nervous but happy that he's having fun with the turbo. I miss sharing songs and texting him about what's new. I miss his snapchat stories that let me know he was still okay, even if he didn't respond to my chats. I miss the opportunities to go to the games where he was cheering. I miss him being there. I miss him all the time.
I'm sure Tanner's friends miss his smile, how he would share his candy, and his jokes about his diabetes. He would do anything for those who were close to him, including pick me up camping for trips for his buddies when they were down, and helping them through their own dark and hopeless times. Tanner was an awesome friend, and he influenced more people than he will ever know. His coaches, teachers, acquaintances, and leaders all loved Tanner.
Tanner was a lover of food and candy, some of his favorites including Gummy Nerd Clusters, frozen gummy Dots, Symphony Bars, peanut butter brownies, Trolli gummy worms, Gushers, gummy bears, Hi Chews, Spicy Nacho Doritos, popcorn, chips and salsa, wintergreen lifesavers, chocolate hugs or kisses, jalapeño cheddar cheetos, croutons, Ritz crackers, oreos, rice krispie treats, chicken strips from Sinclair or Raising Canes, dino nuggets, pizza (with light cheese), tater tots, Del Taco, carrots, and tortillas with honey. His drinks of choice were Baja Blast Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, regular Monsters, apple Marinellis, Red Sour Patch Kids Ghost, Capri Sun's, and Kool Aid Jammers.
Tanner liked to play video games such as Call of Duty. He liked Marvel movies, the Avengers, Venom, Deadpool, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, DC, and Batman. He was an athlete, enjoying sports like cheer, volleyball, ultimate Frisbee, snowboarding, skateboarding, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, football, and dirt biking. He could do front and back flips and was very proud of his stunts.
He did anything he set his mind to, like becoming part of the high school and college cheer teams. He was chasing a dream of someday being a life flight nurse.
He was also an artist, creating sketches and ceramic cups, bowls, and pitchers. He took some percussion and creative writing classes.
Tanner loved to party, but never drank or smoked, saying he was high on life instead.
Tanner's music taste was largley from the 2000's, mostly pop with some rap. His favorite artists were Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, James Arthur, Owl City, Eminem, Ludacris, Juice WRLD, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Maroon 5. Some songs he liked were: Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran; Young, Dumb, & Broke by Khalid; September by James Arthur; Chasing Stars by Alesso, Marshmello, and James Bay; Love Story by Taylor Swift; Ten Feet Tall by Afrojack and Wrabel; Pompeii by Bastille; Fireflies by Owl City; Ghost by Justin Bieber; Baby by Justin Bieber; 7 Years by Lukas Graham; E.T. by Katy Perry; Airplanes by B.o.B. and Hayley Williams; Wishing Well by Juice WRLD; and One More Night by Maroon 5.
Tanner will be held close in all of the hearts of those who knew him.
You will always be my brother, Tanner, and I will do all that I can to live my life in a way that will honor your memory. I love you always.
Think that you can and you will. It's all in the state of mind.
