In Remembrance of Chris Potter
1994 - 2017On August 22, 2017, our family was forever changed by the devastating loss of a son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. Chris was 22 years old and under medical treatment for depression and anxiety. It is so hard to go through another year without making new memories that include him. Wondering what his life would have been like is a constantly changing thought. I wouldn’t say that it doesn’t get easier after seven years but we still get that lump in our throat and the ache in our heart every time we think about him. He loss has left a huge hole in so many hearts. That hole will never be replaced. We will love him forever, until we see him again.
Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.
