That’s why I paddle out on the ocean
It seems very safe on the sea all alone
No one to see me or call on the phone
The distance from shore creates isolation
Surrounded by nature is great consolation
The start of each day is a little adventure
Back on the shore I don’t feel so indentured
My ocean is cleansing for body and mind
While I’m immersed to my troubles, I’m blind
You’re welcome to join if you are able
Sunrise at sea is to sit at God’s table
Each day is different each day is the same
When I don’t see magic, myself I blame
Do I ever get scared you better believe
But to not paddle out I couldn’t conceive
I’m not very good at hiding emotion
That’s why I paddle out on the ocean
